Strong Artist Life — Group Expectations
This is a working environment centered on critique and the development of each painter’s work over time.
The strength of the group depends on each member showing up, engaging directly with the work, and contributing to the conversation.
Focus
Sessions are centered on the work.
Critique is direct and focused on how the work is functioning.
Feedback is specific and grounded in what is visible in the work.
We do not soften or avoid direct feedback to protect feelings.
Critique is directed at the work, not the person.
The goal is clarity and stronger work over time.
We do not engage in political or current-events discussion during sessions.
Work is discussed in terms of how it functions rather than its subject matter.
Attendance
Consistent attendance is expected.
If you are unable to attend a session, your work will not be critiqued.
Sessions are recorded and shared with the group.
Preparation
Work must be submitted in advance to be included in the session.
We focus on work in progress.
Finished work may be shared but will not be critiqued unless requested.
Participation
This is a group environment, not one-on-one instruction.
Each member is expected to:
engage in discussion
offer observations on others’ work
remain present during sessions
